Hi, I’m Allison, and I just turned 30! The big 3-0… I wanted to do something really memorable to ring in my next decade. However, rather than doing something life threatening like skydiving, I decided to get an adrenaline rush from sporting my sexy side instead…

So I opted for a Bon Bon photo shoot experience! Two of my best girl friends, Leslie and Sherri, signed up with me for a full Bon Bon photo shoot experience… girls-night style! 

Before our big night, we visited with the fabulous Bon Bon owner and photographer, Sara Nixon, for an orientation on how to prepare, which sets we prefer, and what we should expect. We were fully briefed and equipped to take our clothes off… in a tasteful way! 

Walking in to the Bon Bon studio in Winter Park for our girls’ night, we were met with a room just brimming with potential for “fun” and “sexy”! The photo sets were overflowing with enticing props and themed accessories. A rack full of colorful costumes lured our attention, but not as much as Sara’s spread of nerve-calming wine and delicious appetizers!  

Before long, all three of us were fully glammed out with gorgeous makeup by Sara and va-va-voom hair styles by Studio K – all done right on site! Sara’s expertise with makeup brushes was right up there with her superior skills behind the camera lens. The storefront curtains were drawn closed and we were quickly robed and ready to show our stuff. 

The evening was full of excitement and laughter!  

Leslie took the “stage” first, since she had previous experience. A seasoned pro, Leslie had been to Bon Bon at least four times prior – she just can’t get enough of the fabulous experience! She was excited to try a new scene that she had not been photographed in before, and her shimmery lavender corset made her very voluptuous and was especially chosen to impress her long distance boyfriend. Leslie was excited to create some new images that would bridge their geographical gap and amplify his longing for more. … so strategic!  

I drank more wine, anticipating my upcoming turn in the hot spot. I was about to find out, though, how easy the posing would be with Sara’s expert verbal guidance.  

Sherri went next. She chose the “dark” scene, with the velvety mauve drapery and Victorian sofa. A grad student and single gal, Sherri had gone out and bought her very first lingerie set just for the photo shoot! She truly unleashed her sultry side and was excited to explore a new side of her that she had never discovered before. No man necessary for feeling sexy! Leslie and I hooted and hollered as Sherri followed Sara’s instructions on each pose. She looked like she had been doing this her whole life. It was confidence-boosting!  

My turn! Newlywed and celebrating my 30^th birthday, I stayed true to my roots and chose the playful outdoor scene with some sweet country flare. I donned my husband’s favorite lingerie from the honeymoon for some poses, and then changed into his college colors with a cowboy hat for a little sassy surprise. Not only did Sara guide my every positioning, but her photography assistant, Melanie, helped with art direction to make sure that every lock of hair was perfectly placed on my shoulders. I was efficiently positioned into countless poses, as Sara worked her magic behind the camera, telling me exactly how to hold my head, arms and legs.  

“It’s all about the space you create with your body,” she explained. “By creating just the slightest space between your arms and torso, or by popping your knee out in a stance, your pose becomes incredibly alluring!”  

She was right! The photos that resulted from our evening are to die for. I can’t believe that I look so good! It’s truly a gift – not only to my new husband – but also to me. I feel like I have exposed myself to a new inner confidence in my body. Now that’s something to treasure for a lifetime! 

I can see why Leslie has returned back to Bon Bon again and again. I would definitely go again.  

The staff was extremely talented and professional. Our privacy is of utmost importance, and I know that my images are held safely secret unless I give proper permissions. And the location was perfect for after-photo-shoot cocktails! We walked over to Dexter’s and toasted to our celebration! We had such a blast that we laughed for the entire night. 

Leading up to the photo shoot, I had wanted to lose 5 pounds before posing for the photos. But now, looking back on the experience, I am glad that I didn’t. Through the evening, Sara’s words of encouragement gave me permission to love my body and feel incredibly confident just at the weight, size and shape that I was that night. I fully accepted myself as 100% beautiful, right then. It was like breaking the bonds of skinny-magazine-cover-expectations… very inspiring!

Glamorous ladies, dazzling calendars and one heck of a party! Last week’s retro-reminiscent pin-up calendar party showcased an evening of luxury for attendees at swanky downtown hot spot Club 23. Co-hosts Bon Bon Studios and Studio K brought the evening together with delectable food, riveting entertainment, and of course the centerpiece of the evening – one incredibly sexy calendar! This launch party will be talked about for years!

Last Thursday, November 3^rd, 100 guests climbed the grand staircase entrance of Club 23 to discover an array of riveting activity. The beautiful wood-trimmed interior and back-lit marble bartop set the perfect backdrop for the vibrant pin-up model framed prints, displayed throughout the room, from the 2012 calendar.  

Brad Thibault, lead singer for top Florida metal band, Ring of Scars, served as the emcee, while Moxie le Femme amused the crowd with their compelling burlesque costuming and fantastic dancing. The performance – coupled with some sultry lingerie displayed by LaBella Intimates – evoked everyone’s seductive side!

Guests were impressed with gourmet cuisine provided by the talented Ms. Lisa Walker. The attractively displayed food was not only incredibly delicious, but also absolutely abundant; the food never stopped coming!

Melanie Teel of Teel Events and Bon Bon Studios ensured that the evening ran smoothly. And smooth it was… nobody wanted to leave! Guests lingered a full hour after the evening closed. All attendees eventually departed with a swag bag in hand, stuffed with coupons and goodies from local vendors.

The calendar models graced the event with their eye-catching appearance, dressed in pin-up clothing and styled by Studio K Salon. They chatted with guests, posed for photos and autographed their posters and calendar pages. 

Door prizes were a fun addition to the evening’s entertainment and the offerings were great—bottles of Chambord Black Raspberry Vodka, a Moxie le Femme gift certificate, Studio K salon products, Raggamuffin hair accessories, a huge basket from the Central Florida Zoo, and the grand prize—a Bon Bon boudoir photography package!

With such a successful evening behind them, Bon Bon Studios and Studio K are continuing to sell calendars and posters for their charity contribution. Which means the fundraising is not over yet!

So, why weddings? We know you are passionate about photography as art, but what made you decide to focus on the wedding niche?
In a word, Love. Not the casual, convenient counterfeit love that some people embrace, but the real deal. There is a quote that says, “It’s easy to take off your clothes and have sex. People do it all the time. But opening up your soul to someone, letting them into your spirit, thoughts, fears, future, hopes, dreams… that is being naked.” It is that kind of deep vulnerability that we want our pictures to communicate. In that kind of relationship is where you find this amazing raw beauty that is full of risk and love and the freedom to have fun and enjoy life. It’s challenging and exhilarating to try and take the pictures that tell those kind of love stories.

What is your favorite thing to photograph in relation to a couple’s love story?
Engagement sessions have become our passion because they are just so much fun! Being engaged is an exciting and simultaneously crazy time. Describe your style.
The one key element that defines the Kate+Kris style is the ambience captured using natural light. At our core we are natural light photographers who have mixed elements of editorial photography and coupled it with fine art portraiture. The result is what we call life + style photography.

Tell us about how you view your philosophy regarding your relationships with your brides.
We are just naïve enough to believe that little seeds can yield big things. Both of us have families that have experienced the heartache and trauma that only divorce can inflict and we want to do whatever we can to help stop this epidemic in America. Ideally, we would love nothing more than to be able to say that our brides have a zero percent divorce rate! We look to find little ways that we can help protect and nurture the love that our brides and grooms have found. This is one of the reasons we are excited about telling our brides about Bon Bon Studios, we know that they will have just as much fun in front of you ladies’ cameras as ours! If they can have a great time playing and posing in front of your camera and at the end of the day walk away feeling like rock stars this is only going to benefit them as women.
